Authorship Criteria Policy
INTRODUCTION
Authorship is an explicit way of assigning responsibility and giving credit for intellectual work. The two are linked. Authorship practices should be judged by how honestly they reflect actual contributions to the final product. Authorship should be attributed to personnel with significant contribution to the study, manuscript drafting, and holding responsibility for the authenticity. General supervision, or financial support shall not suffice the authorship. Contribution of each author shall clearly be stated and contributing authors shall not be changed without prior written consent from the existing authors.
Normally, an author is an individual judged to have made a substantial intellectual or practical contribution to a publication and who agrees to be accountable for that contribution. This would normally include the following individuals.
AUTHORSHIP
1. Everyone who is listed as an author should have made a substantial, direct, intellectual contribution to the work. For example (in the case of a research report) they should have contributed to the conception, design, analysis and/or interpretation of data. Honorary or guest authorship is not acceptable. Acquisition of funding and provision of technical services, patients, or materials, while they may be essential to the work, are not in themselves sufficient contributions to justify authorship.
2. Everyone who has made substantial intellectual contributions to the work should be an author. Everyone who has made other substantial contributions should be acknowledged.
3. All authors' academic qualification should have relevence to the work.
4. When research is done by teams whose members are highly specialized, individual's contributions and responsibility may be limited to specific aspects of the work.
5. All authors should participate in writing the manuscript by reviewing drafts and approving the final version.
6. We do not consider multiple submissions and redundant publications.
7. One author should take primary responsibility for the work as a whole even if he or she does not have an in-depth understanding of every part of the work.
8. This primary author should assure that all authors meet basic standards for authorship and should prepare a concise, written description of their contributions to the work, which has been approved by all authors.
Plagiarism Policy
Prevention of plagiarism is essential as it provides scientific and academic integrity. Hence, Lighthouse Journal of Literature and Linguistics strictly follows the Plagiarism Policy as described by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. HEART uses the latest Plagiarism Detection Software for controlling plagiarism concerns. Also, the Journal Cheif editor will run plagiarism check for the submitted manuscripts before sending to reviewers. If a manuscript has over 19% of plagiarism based on the result of Turnitin check, we send back the manuscript to the author to be revised for the plagiarized contents.
It is basically the author’s duty to only submit an article that is free from plagiarism. The editor, however, checks each article before its publication. The first step is to check plagiarism against offline database developed by Lighthouse Journal of Literature and Linguistics and, secondly, against all relevant online databases.
Copyright Policy
All authors hold full copyright. They are allowed to link published papers and share the published papers online or offline in the final format printed on the journal website. Additionally, authors are allowed to index and store the published work in any private, public, professional and institutional repositories including Research Gates, University Repositories, Academia.edu, Google Scholar etc.
Authors are free to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
