Keywords:
Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Naqsh-e-Faryadi, Universality of Love and HumanityAbstract
In Urdu poetry, after Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz comes to the fore as a strong voice of laborers and he chooses a different path for himself quite apart from
traditional level. “Naqsh-e-Faryadi”, which is the first collection of his poems
belonging to his early period of life. Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s whole poetry revolves
around romance and revolution but “Naqsh-e-Faryadi” reflects a confluence
of romance and revolution abundantly; an impression has been given that in
“Naqsh-e-Faryadi” he says good bye to romance and love in the poems. “My
First love is not my beloved” but this impression is wrong because his concepts of love is not limited only to opposite sex rather it spreads all over the universe and reaches all kinds of people especially the poor people of the country and also those who are crushed in the mill of poverty. In the present article, an attempt has been made to look at Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s Concept of love in the context of “Naqsh-e-Faryadi” in order to show to what extent his concept of love is universal and how his poetry covers themes of love and humanity. The themes which reflect humans’ desires for love.
