While reading the collected poetic works of Ghani Khan, one has the feeling that there are many parallels between his and Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s personality and art. Their early brought up took place in almost similar environments. Neither of them was slavishly impressed by the west, despite their being so well- versed in Western knowledge. Both were deeply influenced by the European, especially English poetic tradition and were at the height of their poetic art and expression. Both of them exhibited their creative capabilities by expressing their feelings and emotions in myriad ways. The loftiness of imagination of both Iqbal and Ghani is un-paralleled. Many parallels can be drawn between Iqbal and Ghana’s concept of beauty, idea of determinism and free will, mysticism, love and reason, criticism of the clergy and other areas. Moreover, their choice of symbols to express their thoughts and feelings is also uncannily similar. Since both Iqbal and Ghani are poets of national repute and geniuses, it is incumbent upon the scholars to bring before the literary world the traits common to both poets.
